Are you bored? Here are some ideas!

Read the school newspaper--they just published new stories online!

Download the Libby app on your phone. This easy to use app gives you access to the public library's books and audiobooks. While school has been out I've read two books, and the one I'd recommend to you is one that will be used in book clubs for juniors next year. It's called I'm Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter.

Maybe podcasts are of more interest. Here is a list of podcasts recommended by another teacher. Disclaimer: I have not listened to all of these, so please preview before listening.

  • Following Harriet (about Harriet Tubman--remember we discussed her work with the Underground Railroad when we talked about Frederick Douglass)
  • 30 Animals That Made Us Smarter (About what humans have learned from the animal kingdom)
  • The Herstory Podcast (the stories of 50 historical women)
  • Serial (Season one of this podcast is the true story of a high school girl who was murdered and her ex-boyfriend who was accused of committing the crime. I've listened to this one and it is fascinating! The story will definitely suck you in. Please note: this one definitely contains mature language, and is about a murder. It is, however, used in many classrooms around the country.)
