Week of May 25, 2020

On Wednesday, May 27, I will host a live class in the American Lit Super Team (on Teams) at 1 pm to discuss your questions from chapters 5-6. I can also answer any other questions you have. Please join me there!

This week you will be writing about chapters 5-6 and reading chapter 7, which is the longest and most action-packed chapter in the book.

Please find all of this week's work in this one document.

If you have work that you turned in but is still marked as missing and with a zero, please send me an email with the following information:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your class period
  • The name of the assignment as it appears in Skyward
  • Where the assignment was submitted (Teams or Actively Learn)
As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Take care,
Mrs. Dragavon

Week of May 18, 2020

Last week I spent a long time making sure grades were accurate and updated, but it's a time-consuming task and I'm only human, so I'm relying on students to double-check Skyward and alert me to any mistakes. If you do find that you have an assignment marked missing and 0, please send me an email that includes the following information:

  • Your full name (especially if the name on your email address is different)
  • The name of the assignment exactly as it appears on Skyward
  • Your class period
If an assignment shows * that simply means it's not graded yet.

Please be aware that I am devoting Mondays and Tuesdays to going back through Teams and Actively Learn and scoring and updating any late work. If you submitted work after Monday then I will update it when I grade this week, and there is no need to notify me. I'm more concerned about work that you submitted before last week and still shows a 0 and missing.

It is also clear that some students are reading summaries and hoping to skate by on that. Please note that short answer questions in Actively Learn require text details and an explanation. If you are not including accurate details and/or explaining your thinking, your grade will reflect that.

This week we are reading two chapters of Gatsby so that we can finish the book on time. Next week we will read just one chapter again, but fair warning, chapter 7 is a long one.

I'm also offering an optional summative writing assignment this week. If you are currently dissatisfied with your grade, I strongly recommend you take advantage of this opportunity. There will not be another one next week.

Please find all of this week's work explained here in this link.

Take care!

Weekly Update May 11, 2020

By now students should have read the first three chapters of The Great Gatsby in Actively Learn.

Please click here to see all of this week's work at a glance.

This week I am offering an optional summative assignment. This assignment is not required, but if you are interested in RAISING your grade, you should complete this assignment! Completion alone does not guarantee that you will raise your grade. You must submit high quality work. This assignment will not be accepted after May 18 (please read the assignment sheet for exceptions). If you have any questions, please reach out to me!

Parent/Student Update Week of May 4, 2020

Please click here for the week at a glance with all assignments.

Please use this form to notify me of any work you submit AFTER it has been entered in Skyward.

ISD's grading policy says that you will receive the grade you had on May 13 ONLY if you continue to complete class work to standard. If students do not complete quality work, then they will receive an incomplete. On the flip side, your grade can go up with continued good work! Please do your best, and let me know if/when you have questions or concerns.
