Tuesday, Sept 24, 2019: Lit Devices Gehrig & Lincoln

Today we reviewed the last five lit devices on the blue notes sheet. Make sure you get these notes from a classmate if you were absent.

We then practiced identifying these terms in real life and literary examples. We used the same handout as last class to find three different terms from today's list in either Gehrig or Lincoln's speeches. If you were absent, you'll need to get this handout from the absent work binder.

Lastly, we wrote a paragraph that chose one speech (Lincoln or Gehrig) and one appeal (ethos, logos, or pathos) to analyze. Students answered the prompt: Which appeal has the greatest impact in the speech. Two quotes were included in the writing (highlight them).

Work turned in today:

  1. (TOP) Your paragraph with the quotes you used highlighted
  2. Devices worksheet for Gettysburg
  3. Devices worksheet for Gettysburg & Gehrig
  4. (BOTTOM) Practice plea to parents
