Monday, 9/30: Roosevelt day 2

Today we analyzed Roosevelt's speech for rhetorical appeals. We focused on answering the questions:

  • What is the author's purpose in using this appeal/writing this way?
  • What is the impact on the audience?
Students then wrote a paragraph. If you were absent, you'll need to do this for homework.
Choose one appeal and analyze its use in the speech. Include in your paragraph:
  • a topic sentence that identifies the appeal you've chosen, the speech title, and the speaker name
  • two quotes
  • in text citation of quotes
  • analysis that addresses the questions above for each quote
  • conclusion sentence
HW: none, unless you were absent
